This daybook of approximately 150 written pages was kept by Henry Reeder, a farmer in Varick, New York, between 1840 and 1865. It includes numerous culinary and practical recipes (potted fish, sausages, pickled pork, and ink), as well as instructions for grinding buckwheat, making candles, and brewing ale. There are also daily weather notes with comments, dated 1840-1865, addresses of suppliers, and news clippings.
