1775 – 1825
Date Details
This toaster was among the first toasters created and developed for open hearth cooking. Therefore, many of the ones that still exist today date back to the late 18th and early 19th centuries. There are several descriptions and photos of similar revolving toasters in 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles (Franklin 476). All of those listed are dated sometime between the late 18th or early 19th centuries as well. One such toaster with the same cornsprout design comes from the 1700's. Consequently, it is very possible that the revolving toaster above is an eighteenth or nineteenth century object.
