Date Details
According to 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles (Franklin 446), gridirons were utilized throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries for hearth cooking. Because there are no markings on the gridiron above to identify its maker, a specific date for this item was unobtainable. It is reasonable however, to state that this item could have been used in the eighteenth century but due to its very good condition, it is more likely that it was operated during the nineteenth century.
