Unfortunately, a specific date for this item could not be ascertained. In addition, very little could be found about the Schroeter Brothers other than the fact that they produced a number of different kitchenware items between about 1850 and 1930. In 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles (Franklin 39), there are several combination slicing and grating machines that have various dates based upon the material they made of. As a result, this cast iron machine could have possibly been a mid 19th century device but due to its fine finish and decorative job, it would be more logical to place it as a late 19th century or early 20th century machine.
