Date Details
Fruit juicers began to appear during the 1700's, with the introduction of citrus groves in the United States. In the later half of the 1800's, however, oranges and grapefruits became more available and juicers became an important kitchen tool. It is at this time that they were made of cast iron, some even with porcelain inserts (cup & bowl) very similar to the object above. Accordingly, this fruit juicer was probably utilized in the later 1800's or around the turn of the century, as seen in Kitchen Collectibles (Plante 91).
