Most of this 26-page volume consists of Phila Delaplaine Reed's observations on sermons, her charitable activities, and an entry dated August 15, 1834 that records the death of her daughter, Charlotte. However, the volume also contains recipes for preserves, jellies, puddings, cakes, baked goods, and various meat and oyster dishes. Additional recipes are written on two loose sheets.
