Description

This collection comprises over sixty family recipes, mostly for baked goods and desserts, with a few medical recipes. Some pages contain household accounts. Sporadic recipes are dated. The earliest date entered is 1812; the latest is 1830. A note laid in at the front of the manuscript reads: "A very old receipt book belonged to my great-grandmother Mrs. Mary Pixley Tinkham (Pumpelly) / 1815 before she married James Pumpelly." "Mrs. Mary Pumpelly" is written on the inside front cover of the book.
