The author of this book wrote her name on the inside front cover. The collection consists of around seventy-five recipes focusing on baking. It includes recipes for twenty-five cakes, and additional recipes for Johnny cake, Brooklyn cornbread, Litchfield doughnuts, Maizena pudding, and barberry sauce. The Maizena brand of cornstarch was registered in 1856, so the book must have been begun after that date.
