1860Description
This collection is written in a printed calendar/diary for the year 1860, printed "Counting House diary for 1860" on the title page. The recipes are written in spaces provided for daily entries, a few in February, the bulk starting in May. The book includes addresses, mostly in Maine, as well as poems and newspaper clippings.
The collection consists of eighty recipes for sweets and baked goods. It particularly features cakes, for which there are sixty-five recipes, by such titles as Cork, Washington, Webster, Freedom, Taylor, Harrison, Derry, and Old Colony. It also contains recipes for pies (including Washington and Marlborough) and puddings (four of which call for Indian meal), as well as a recipe for Johnny cake and a few candy recipes.
