This eighteenth-century commonplace book was originally kept by Ann Bromfield. Approximately 304 pages in length, it contains cooking recipes, drafts of personal correspondence, and poetry by George Lyttelton, John Campbell, Mrs. Elizabeth Rowe, and others, as well as some possibly original compositions. The volume was later inherited by Bromfield's grandson, G.W. Newnham, who used it to draw up a calendar of important birthdays and a coin collection inventory. The book contains inscriptions and bookplates by other members of the Newnham family (possibly G.W.'s children).
