This book of approximately 190 pages contains 359 recipes, 202 of which are culinary, 148 medical, five veterinary (one for both man and beast), and four pertaining to dyeing and/or cleaning cloth. There is no formal division between the different groups of recipes, although different versions of a dish (e.g., puddings) and different remedies for the same complaint are sometimes grouped together. Some of the medical recipes include accounts of persons treated successfully by the remedy. Most of the book is written in the same hand, presumably that of Bridget Lane, who was of Worcestershire (perhaps in the area of Tenbury Wells). The volume includes an alphabetical table of contents at the front. The table does not include various recipes apparently written in blank spaces, which seem to be in a different hand.
