Description
This large collection of English and American manuscript cookbooks was assembled by anthropologist and food historian Sophie D. Coe (1933-1994). This collection includes two particularly noteworthy items: the cookbook of Anne Burton (1742) and Mrs. [?]escod's Book of Receipts (1757). Both of these English books are written in beautiful hands and are bound in vellum.
