Kept by Ryves Holt (1696?-1763), this manuscript book includes miscellaneous memos, culinary recipes, medical remedies, and accounts. The book also contains accounts written by other individuals regarding Holt's estate after his death.

Ryves Holt was a Delaware judge and statesman from Lewes, Delaware. Holt was a Member of Assembly of the Three Lower Counties on Delaware in 1734-1737, 1742-1744, and 1746-1755; he served as Chief Justice of the Three Lower Counties on Delaware from 1745 to 1763; and he was Speaker of Assembly in 1742-1744 and 1746-1752. Built is 1665, Holt's house is the oldest standing building in the state of Delaware and is listed on the National Register.
