Description

This cookbook contains seven pages of cake recipes written in an exuberant hand and embellished with flourishes. The only chemical leavening called for in these recipes is pearl ash, which suggests that the recipes were likely written before 1845, by which point pearl ash was largely supplanted by other baking sodas. The volume also contains devotional matter and accounts.
