Description

This culinary and medical recipe book is written in a notebook stitched together with sheets of various sizes to make a 78-page volume, some of which is blank. It belonged to Anne Western, who signed her name and wrote the date 1716 on the front cover. She wrote much of the first part of the book; the leaves not in her hand may have been sent or given to her by neighbors and friends. It is likely that Anne Western became Mrs. Anne Johnston "At Mr. Western's" ["At Abington, Bourne Bridge, Cambridgeshire"].
