Description
This collection of manuscript cookbooks and recipes was created and shared by members of the Landor and Lyttelton families. The Landor family lived at Ipsley Court in Ipsley, England, which was formerly located in Warwickshire county but is now part of Worcestershire. Ipsley Court was altered beyond recognition in the twentieth century. Its remnants are now occupied by commercial businesses. The Lyttelton (or Littleton) family lived at Studley Castle, in Studley. The grand house is now operated as a hotel.

The collection includes a book of culinary, medical, and practical household recipes, with an index, which is signed by Leonora Lyttelton (born 1736) on upper front inside cover; a notebook titled "An Index for Finding Out Alphabetically the Following Receipts & How They are Made"; a notebook containing culinary recipes and four leaves pertaining to arithmetic; a cookbook containing approximately 130 recipes, which includes an engraving depicting a theatrical performance, captioned "The Theatrical Oglers"; and a cookbook containing approximately 130 culinary and medical recipes signed "C. Landor" (active 1820s) on the back of the front flyleaf. There are also 235 loose leaves containing handwritten recipes that are primarily addressed to Miss Ellen Landor (1782-1838).
