The inside front cover of this 57-page English cookbook is inscribed: Elizabeth M. Manning, October 1797. Harriet Manning, August 25, 1798. Entirely written in the hands of the inscribers. the book contains over 100 culinary recipes. Particularly well represented are recipes for puddings, custards, creams, cakes, breads, biscuits, and buns. There are also a few recipes for meat and fish dishes, including eel soup and beef olives (stuffed roulades), and for miscellaneous items such as curry powder, "Italian cheese," and pickles in West Indian style. A few household recipes (wash balls, furniture oil, ink, and "the Earl of Abingdon's powder") are also included
