Description

This eighteenth century English cookbook of approximately 129 pages is principally in one hand, with some additions, insertions, and "mounted pieces" (term quoted from the library catalog) by others. Two "pieces" are addressed to a Mrs. Fowke. The book is primarily composed of culinary recipes, interspersed with a few medical recipes. The earliest recipes in the book are entered in an index. A section of the book appears to have been used as a cash book. This section includes a leaf with the date "November 1787."
