Description
Annie Dickson Kenan (1843- or 1848-1906) was a daughter of Owen Rand Kenan (1804-1887) and Sarah Rebecca Graham Kenan (1817-1871). Annie and her three older brothers grew up on the family plantation, Liberty Hall, which her father managed while also pursuing a career in politics, serving as the North Carolina representative to the First Confederate Congress from 1862 to 1864. Annie Dickson did not marry and lived at Liberty Hall her entire life. Today, Liberty Hall is operated as a museum.

In addition to recipes, Annie Kenan's 143-page book contains miscellaneous entries of other kinds, including a few accounts of her father. The book is located in Series 7, Folder 68 of the collection.
