This book contains 160 written pages, most in the same hand, presumably that of an American woman who identifies herself by her maiden  name (Annie Butler) and by her married name (Annie Butler Goodrich ) on different pages. The book contains the dates 1859 and 1863. Many recipes are identified only by their main ingredient. Some are attributed to named individuals, such as “Mrs. Howell’s Cafe Mousse.” Some recipes reference their national origin (e.g. ”Spaghetti. Italian”). The book includes a small number of tipped in or inserted pages (one of which is printed) with additional recipes.
