Description
This daily journal details a voyage by the ship George Washington from Boston to Mobile, Liverpool, and New York between May and October of 1852. The ship's home port was Boston; its master was Josiah S. Cummings; and the log keeper was Charlotte A. Page. The cargo included cotton. The log describes daily weather, shipboard activities, illnesses on board, location, provisions, sightings of ships and animals (including birds, dolphins, sharks, and whales), port activities, shopping, attending church, and an overland journey, with sightseeing, in England and Wales. Recipes are included at the end.
