Description
Clara H. Haraden was born around 1843 in Salem, Massachusetts, to Andrew Haraden Jr. (1811-1877) and his wife Augusta Obear. She was one of seven siblings who survived into adulthood. Clara's father made a number of trips to Calcutta before becoming a package express-man between Salem and Boston. As an adult, Clara traveled throughout East Asia with her husband. Her cookbook is written in a notebook originally used for accounts. The cookbook is part of the library's collection of Clara Haraden's papers, which consist largely of correspondence between Clara and her siblings.
