Description

This book, titled "Receipts Culinary" and dated 1834-1839 by the library, belonged to a member of the socially and politically prominent Hopkinson family of Philadelphia. The book contains both handwritten recipes and newspaper clippings. Included in the volume are the table arrangements of the different courses of party dinners staged by the Hopkinsons. The guest names included on one chart belong to some of Philadelphia's prominent families, including Biddle, Read, Walsh, Butler, Mease, and others.
