This book contains handwritten recipes for soups, breads, salads, desserts, and other foods, as well as a few medical and household recipes. Some clippings of recipes are pasted in book, and some loose recipes are inserted. Also inserted are loose pages of "The Mayflower," containing recipes and articles on childrearing and other subjects. This women's interest periodical was published semimonthly in Peru, Indiana, from 1861 to 1869, which suggests that the recipe book may have been compiled in the 1860s.
