Written in a small notebook, this book was compiled by members of the Mills and Smith families, of the Charleston, South Carolina, in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Included are culinary recipes for puddings, pies, cakes, wine, preserves, and ketchup. There are also medical and household recipes, including instructions for making rose water and isinglass, a gelatin used in molded cold desserts such as blancmange.
