This anonymous English recipe book appears to have been compiled during the second half of the eighteenth century. The first half of the volume contains medical recipes, a few of which are named, including Daffy's elixir, Huxham's tincture of bark, and Dr. Thikland's salve. The remainder of the volume is given over to culinary recipes for cakes, sauces, pickled foods, meat dishes, and puddings. Among the culinary recipes are Hunting Beef, preserved whole oranges, and orgeats from George's Chocolate House. Some recipes are pasted onto pages.
