Description
This slim volume of culinary, household, and medical recipes was compiled in London, England, around the year 1857. The book is written two hands, in black ink and pencil. The first page contains notes, addresses, and a payment dated 1857. The remainder of the book consists of recipes, most of which are formulas for household products such as blacking, cleaning solutions, glue for stone and glass, and ink for steel pans. There are also medical remedies, including some for dogs and horses. Culinary recipes are written at the end of the volume. They outline buns, cheese straws, ginger beer, "Italian Castenia," jellies, lemonade, pickled foods, and soups, among other things.
