This English cookbook of approximately 50 pages was written by at least two individuals. An inscription with a poem on the final three pages reads, "B. G. C[?]ursham from her affectionate mother, August 12, 1850". The final recipe in the volume is dated March 1887. The book contains recipes for soups, mutton chops and other meats, hams, pickled herring, vegetable pickles, sauces, cakes, puddings, and jellies. There are also recipes for "Captain's biscuits" and "Brighton biscuits," as well as recipes for fruit wines, cordials, and beer. A few recipes are attributed.
