The library has ascribed authorship of this 150-page English recipe book to C. Chitsome, who wrote his name and the date 1808 on the inside front cover. Most of the book's approximately 200 recipes are culinary, but there is also a brief section of medical recipes written from the back of the notebook going toward the center. A table of contents precedes the recipes.
The culinary recipes cover soups, meat and fish dishes, sauces, pickled and potted foods, breads, biscuits, pastry, puddings, jams, and sweetmeats. Recipes include Cherokee Sauce, beef and veal olives (rollatini), several curry dishes, chicken panada, gingerbreads, and orange paste. Most are attributed to various women, including "Mrs. Lloyd of the Royal Hotel Llangolen." Several are attributed to servants.
