Description
This 70-page recipe book, written in several hands, contains culinary, medical, and household recipes. It is titled on the front cover, "Surveyor's Book. 1804. Sprowston." and, on the back cover, "Surveyor's Book. Sprowston."  The volume also contains several pages of accounts relating to the parish of Sprowston, in Norfolk, 1812-1814.

The culinary recipes cover jellies, preserves, gravies and sauces, cakes, puddings, and breads. There are also recipes for various drinks, including wines, beers, juices, and "Coffee after the French Manner." The medical remedies include several for coughs, salves, and "peristaltic persuaders." Several recipes are attributed to Sir Watkin Wynn and "Dr. Kitchiner," whose cookbook, The Cook's Oracle, first published in 1817, was immensely popular in both England and America.
