Description

This item comprises two cookbooks compiled by Fanny Kramer, who may have been of Pennsylvania. One of the volumes contains approximately eighty-five recipes, most of which are written in English but about twenty of which are in German with English titles. Approximately seventy of the recipes in this volume outline cakes, with the bulk of the rest concerning breads and pies. All of the recipes appear to be American, including those written in German with English titles. Among these are Washington cake, Boston cake, shortcake, cookies, Buckeye cake, shortcake, biscuit, spring rolls, and lemon pie. The recipes written in English or containing English titles have been indexed in a database available at the library. The German-language recipes have not been indexed.
