Description
This recipe book belonged to Thomas Peachey, who lived at 16 White Lion Street, Spital Square, London, England. The book contains a table of contents that lists the recipes written on the first thirty-one numbered pages of the volume. Thomas Peachey's book largely consists of recipes for vinegar-based condiments and pickles, such as  mushroom catsup, walnut catsup, quin sauce, universal sauce, elder vinegar, garlic vinegar, lemon pickle, and gherkin pickle. Many preparations are outlined two or more times, in different recipes, including mushroom ketchup, camp vinegar, curry powder, essence of anchovies, and walnut liquor. Most of the recipes are dated, the earliest in 1799, the latest in 1824. The book also contains two household recipes and a few accounts.

Thirteen leaves are laid in the volume. One has a recipe for camp sauce, and another has a recipe for camp vinegar as "made for the Duke of Buccleuch." Also laid in the volume is a paper booklet that lists the prices of ingredients used in the recipes during the years 1794 to 1796. The items listed include melons, cucumbers for the shop, celery, and French beans.
