Written by Mrs. Holmes, whose name appears on the inside front cover, this 90-page recipe book appears to be a fair copy to which the author later added annotations. The book contains culinary, medical, and household recipes dating from the last half of the nineteenth century. Included are recipes for suckling pig, marmalade, and furniture oil, as well as remedies for bleaching freckles and making a gargle for a sore throat. A recipe from approximately 1675-1725 is laid into the volume.
