According to 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles (Franklin 118) this sifter design appeared in the latter part of the 1800's but was utilized throughout much of the early 1900's and well into the mid twentieth century. The similar flour sifters listed in 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles that contain the tri-part circular agitator and handle on the side, range in date from 1879 through 1928. There are three Bromwell sifters noted in 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles (Franklin 117-118), one of which is very similar in description to the above. All three sifters are all dated simply 20th century. No further information could be obtained regarding this particular sifter or the company that manufactured Bromwell products. Therefore, the sifter above would reasonably be listed as a twentieth century item, most likely dating back to the earlier 1900's.
