This soup digester is very similar in form and structure to several pressure cookers described or pictured in 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles (Franklin 506). The pressure cooker that most resembles this item was presented in the American Home Cook Book in 1854. If the item above is associated with the same manufacturer, then this soup digester was probably utilized in the mid to late nineteenth century.
