This cast iron hand-held fruit squeezer was patented in 1865 and therefore used in the mid to late 19th century. According to the listings and information in 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles (Franklin 43), most cast iron lemon/lime squeezers were manufactured and used during the period of the mid nineteenth century through the turn of the century. The early twentieth century saw the introduction of aluminum lemon squeezers and glass reamers.
