Description

This collection comprises five manuscript commonplace books, all seeming to be in the same handwriting and each dealing with various subjects. The volumes include extracts from printed books and magazine articles, recipes, lists, thoughts, and other matter. The volumes were apparently compiled in the first half of the 19th century, as most of the works cited are from that period or before. The latest date noted is a list of movable feasts in the Church from 1818 to 1848. Most of the illustrations are hand-drawn, but a printed map is included in one volume.
