Description
This 426-page manuscript book contains culinary and medical recipes, as well as some accounts for the civil parish of Hanley Castle, Worcestershire in 1722. Written in several different hands dating from the 1660s to the 18th century, this volume seems to have circulated among members of the Hornyold family of Blackmore Park, in Hanley Castle. The Hornyolds were a well-established Catholic family, and several recipes are attributed to other members of the English Catholic community. The family's connection to various names appearing on the front endpapers of the book is unclear.
