Description

The first page of this 60-page receipt book is inscribed "Margrett Greene, Her Booke. January 29th 1701." However, it is not clear how much of the volume Margett Greene actually wrote, for the book's recipes and remedies are in many different hands. The index to the recipes is written on several pages from a 1676 commonplace book begun by "T. Norton." One recipe is dated 5 December 1712, and several are credited to "Lady Wreckley," "Mrs. Tolbut," and "Dr. Wagstaff," but most of the recipes are undated and unattributed.
