Description
On page 21 of this book, a note appended to a recipe for Tomato Catsup states, ”Woodbridge N[ew] Jersey Transcribed by E.B.Freeman,” suggesting that the book may have been compiled by the Freeman family. The book contains thirty-seven recipes credited to Sarah Josepha Hale's New Cook Book, published in 1857, so the book cannot be earlier than 1857 and is probably not much later than 1870. The recipes primarily concern desserts, cakes, and various baked goods; there are also eight recipes for oyster dishes. In addition, the book also includes some recipes for household supplies such as ink, soap, and dyes.
