Description
Adelphia (Jackson) Watson was born in Jamaica, Vermont, on December 9, 1817. She married Asahel Watson on May 22, 1840. The family moved to Wardsboro, Vermont, in the 1850s where Asahel kept a hotel until his death on January 7, 1881. Adelphia continued running the Wardsboro House until her death on April 22, 1890.

This small manuscript cookbook was removed from Asahel Watson's farm account book (XMSC 12:16); it is signed "Asahel Watson" on the front and back. The cookbook contains recipes for various cakes, including sponge, ginger, and cream cakes.
