Description

This cookbook is inscribed George Gardner and dated 1852. It is in several different hands. The bulk of the entries date from the mid-nineteenth century, but some in the back of the book may have been written somewhat later. Throughout the volume the focus is mostly on cakes, cookies, and tea breads, with a few recipes for puddings and pies and one for fried oysters. There is also a recipe for a cream to improve the complexion.
