This handwritten recipe book of approximately 88 pages comprises a balanced mix of meats, vegetables, savory dishes, and sweets. It includes several somewhat unusual recipes, such as Kromeskys (a meat dish), bologna sausage, and mock pigeon. Ingredients are measured with uncommon specificity for the period. At the back of the book are directions for preparing soap and other household items; remedies for smallpox, diptheria, and burns; and preparations for preventing tools from rusting and for preserving wood in the ground.
