This cookbook is written in two sections. The first and largest section comprises 110 pages. It contains190 recipes, all written in the same hand between 1770 and 1772. Some of the recipes are transcribed from printed sources, including Hannah Glasse's The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy, a highly influential work first published in 1747. The second section is written in various hands. It appears to have been compiled in the early and mid-nineteenth century.
Until 1889, Camberwell was part of the county of Surrey. Today, Camberwell is part of the London Borough of Southwark.
