Compiled in a leather bound notebook, this English receipt book contains culinary and medical recipes dating 1665-1704. It may also include menus. (The library record references "meals"; it is not clear what this means.) The book is part of a collection that includes loose recipes and a love poem as well as a typed transcription of the book, which will prove helpful to researchers given the book's early date. The book is written in several different hands. Several names are written on the inside front cover, suggesting that the book had at least two owners: "Madam White" and "Mrs. Ashworth."
