Description
This book contains a title page inscribed "Mrs. Jane Serle's Receipt Book, 1743."  Below the original inscription another has been added: "Mrs. Yalden's receipt book." The hand of this later inscription seems to be the same as that of an inscription on the book's vellum cover: "My receipt book, 1781." This suggests that the book, though originally created by Mrs. Serle around 1743, was continued until at least 1781. The library catalog record states that the book is in "various hands," so Mrs. Yalden was apparently only one of the book's later authors.

This book comprises 152 pages and contains both culinary and medical recipes. A thumb index is also included.
