Description
This volume contains a mix of medical and household recipes as well miscellaneous cash accounts and a chronological list of obstetrical cases. The bulk of the material dates from between 1855 and 1868. Henry Knox Stratford (ca, 1821-1914) was a physician who practiced eclectic medicine, a 19th-century branch of medicine that made use of botanical remedies, some borrowed from traditional American Indian medicine. He was active in several eclectic medicine societies and practiced in Cook County, Illinois.
