Description
This volume contains recipes for food and drink as well as medical and household recipes. It also contains several pages listing the names of women who gave their recipes to Preston. Digital images of the book's recipes for Table Beer, Crab Apple Preserves, and Fried Cow Heels are included in the record, along with recipes for yarn dye, hair tonic, and several cures.  

Caroline Hancock (1785-1847) was born in Fincastle, Virginia, and married prominent Virginian William Preston (1770-1821) in 1802. The couple had four children, all of whom lived into adulthood. Caroline spent much of her life in Louisville, Kentucky, where she is buried.
