Description
Most of this manuscript is given over to philosophical, religious, and technical writings, some in Latin, in various hands. However, it also contains a receipt book, written in the center of the notebook. The recipes are numbered consecutively from 1 to 178 (a few unnumbered recipes appear after 178) and are dated from 1694 to 1732. The first sixty-seven recipes, through herring pie, which is dated 1695, are primarily culinary; the rest are primarily medical. The culinary recipes mostly concern fruit preserves, sweet wines, cakes, possets, and dessert creams, although there are also a few pickles, puddings, and pies.
