Description
This quarto manuscript of 139 leaves, many of which are blank and some of which are cut out, is in several different hands. A cookbook is written at the front of the notebook; a collection of medical recipes is written from the back of the notebook, upside-down in relation to the cookbook. The cookbook contains a broad selection of mid-eighteenth century English recipes, with emphasis on puddings, pies, and pickles. The cookbook also includes eight "memorandums" concerning thickening sauces, roasting and boiling various meats, seasoning and cooking rooks, seasoning vinegar with spices, and keeping foods.
